How can i get over my fear of needles?
Okay so im doing a Medical Assistant program, and we are going to practice giving and taking blood on each other in a couple months and im trying to prepare myself in time. Im not so scared that ill faint, but i do have trouble watching a needle go into the skin whether its on me or another person. Is there any tips that can help me get over this fear?
hmmm. If you’re THIS affected then do you really think this is the right job for you? If you really want to go for it anyways then maybe try watching a bunch of videos on youtube involving needles, IVs, blood donation and that sort of stuff. Make sure to surround yourself with lots of pillows and plush blankets and have a glass of water and a little chocolate bar nearbye… This is what I did after fainting in biology when doing blood glucose monitoring and it really helped. Just keep watching those videos and you’ll get more and more desensitized to it. As for taking a needle, that will come with time. Just relax your arm and think about something else. Unfortunately there’s nothing that can be done about that except getting used to taking them.
